Members of Siloam Springs High School FBLA have activities planned to celebrate the free enterprise system in the United States. - On Tuesday, November 6, 2009, the Mayor M.L. Van Poucke of Siloam Springs proclaimed November 15, 2009, as American Free Enteprise Day in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. See a picture of the event here.
- On, Tuesday, November 7, 2009, a Letter to the Editor, written by SSHS FBLA Local Chapter President John Orcutt, stressing the importance of free enterprise in our society was published in the Herald-Leader of Siloam Springs. Read the letter here.
- Heath Nance, Arkansas FBLA President and local chapter member at Siloam Springs High School, will appear on 5NEWS This Morning on Saturday, November 10 at 7:00 a.m., to talk about American Enterprise Day and the importance of free enterprise in our country.
- On Tuesday, November 13, Dr. Randall Oates of SOAPware of Fayetteville, will be the guest speaker at SSHS FBLA's American Enteprise Day Lunch at the high school. SOAPware is an electronic medical records company that was founded by Dr. Oates.
- During the American Enteprise Day Lunch on November 15, 2009, attendees will be taking a Famous Entrepreneur Quiz that tests their knowledge of famous entrepreneurs and their companies. Please go to our Trivia page to test your knowledge online!
- Throughout the school year, SSHS FBLA has invited local businesspersons to come and talk about the free enteerprise system in the United States during the Encore and lunch periods at school. Past speakers have included Heman Greuel of Movie Park Video and Tim McCord of Signature Bank, both located in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
- In January 2009, members of SSHS FBLA will engage in a one-day job shadowing project that will allow them to observe first-hand the inner workings of small businesses in Northwest Arkansas.
- In Spring 2009, SSHS FBLA will sponsor a Mini-Business Plan competition. Check back for upcoming details!
