What is American Enterprise?

November 15 marks the annual observance of American Enterprise Day. Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) recognizes American Enterprise Day as a day to spotlight the free enterprise system of the United States. This day celebrates the right to pursue the career we desire and our right to entrepreneurship.

President Jimmy Carter first proclaimed American Enterprise Day in the late 1970’s. This eventually developed into an FBLA-PBL program called “Getting Involved,” an awareness program under a grant from the Chevron Corporation. The program had three goals: Get local chapter FBLA members involved in their business community, increase awareness of the free enterprise system, and to provide opportunities for members of the local communities.

Join with the FBLA members at Siloam Springs High School in celebrating American Enterprise Day on November 15, 2009. As members of the vibrant Northwest Arkansas community, we realize the importance of supporting small businesses in our area.
